    Testing lag hurts Canadian beef

    CALGARY - Marketing Canadian beef internationally is a tougher sell if ranchers are reluctant to bring diseased or distressed cattle in for BSE testing, a top industry official said Saturday. Ted Haney of the Canada Beef Export Federation told cattle industry executives that Canada can’t seen to be dragging its feet on meeting testing targets of 8,000 cattle by the end of this year and 30,000 animals in 2005.
