    AUSTRALIA - The European Union has given Australia the highest status of freedom from mad cow disease, Agriculture Minister Warren Truss says. Mr Truss said the European Food Safety Authority had confirmed Australian cattle were highly unlikely to be infected with bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE).
